    Syncarpha vestita leaves and buds

    Syncarpha vestita leaves and buds
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Ivan Lätti

The narrow, ascending leaves of Syncarpha vestita are obovate, blue-green, narrow and woolly with smooth, entire margins. They tend to crowd towards the top of the erect branches, reducing in size on the way up.

The clusters of conical flowerheads in bud are positioned at the branch tips nestled among the leaves. Several rows of narrow, papery bracts with sharply pointed tips make up the white involucre (Marais, (Ed.), 2017; Manning 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; iNaturalist).
