Salvia chamelaeagnea inflorescence

The bloublomsalie, Afrikaans common name of Salvia chamelaeagnea, produces stem-tip inflorescences of mostly blue flowers from late spring to autumn. The inflorescences are usually many-flowered, often fairly dense, the flowers clustered at the tips of leafless opposite, also decussate, ascending side-branchlets. 

The calyces behind the corollas may be green and sometimes dark-striped, otherwise brown, and gland-dotted. The calyces may be 2,8 cm long.

Note the variability in the toothing on the leaf margins, some maybe bracts below the flowers (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
